Father reportedly murders child in alleged obedience to God

- A father in Benue state reportedly takes his daughter from his wife and heads for a bush where he allegedly hacks her to death

- The Benue police command says the suspect has been arrested while investigation into the matter has commenced
A father who reportedly murdered his nine-month old daughter in Benue state has allegedly said he committed the act in obedience to God’s directive.
The Tribune reports that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 21, in Konshisha local government area of the state.
The father was said to have forcefully collected the little girl from his wife and took her to a bush where he reportedly hacked her to death.
The man reportedly returned home without his daughter and told residents that he had killed his child in obedience to God’s directive.
An eye witnesses quoted the suspect as saying: “It is my sheep and I decided to sacrifice it to God as demanded of me. I have not laid my hands on anyone’s child and as such, should not be condemned."
When contacted, Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the Benue state command, said the suspect had been arrested and investigation was ongoing in the case.
Meanwhile, five of the six Offa bank robbery suspects appeared before an Ilorin high court on Wednesday, November 21, without the prime suspect, Michael Adikwu.
The lead prosecuting counsel who is also the Kwara state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Kamaldeen Ajibade told the court that the police headquarters revealed that Adikwu is dead, TVC News
According to Ajibade, the director of public prosecution spoke with deputy commissioner of police Abba Kyari who confirmed that Adikwu is dead.
Ajibade requested for adjournment of the case for proper amendment to the charge sheet following Adikwu's death.
